!! COVID-19 INFO - PROTOCOL UPDATE !!
effective Dec 1, 2021 til further notice
UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO INCREASED CASELOAD, WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS AT THIS TIME. Due to current needs during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are taking continued steps to help reduce and contain any spreading of this virus, in order that we may continue to provide services to you as safely as possible. For this reason, please note the following changes to our operation:
CLIENTS *ARE* ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING. If you prefer, you may call us from your car and wait in your car. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT OUR PHONES WILL BE VERY BUSY. Keep calling, and thank you for your patience. ONLY 1 CLIENT PER PET IS ALLOWED IN THE CLINIC. So, if you have small children with you, you may still prefer to wait in the car while we perform your pet's exam. We also have drop-off appointments available for your convenience.
PRESCRIPTION REFILLS - Please allow us 24 hours to fill your prescription. This gives us time to properly attend to your needs, as well respecting the time of our other clients. If you contact us in the morning, we may have your prescription ready by end of the afternoon. Afternoon refill requests will be available for pickup the NEXT DAY. WE ALSO HAVE A *LIMITED TEXTING* OPTION: For PRESCRIPTION REQUESTS - You can text us at 706-537-7317 with Your Name and Your Pet's Name. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT A PHONE LINE FOR OTHER MESSAGES, such as new problems or appointment requests. *This number is NOT monitored after business hours.*
APPOINTMENTS: Space in our clinic is *extremely* tight and it is not always possible to maintain the recommended 6 foot distance. MASKS ARE REQUIRED TO BE WORN IN THE CLINIC WAITING ROOM, in order to protect you, your family, and our other clients and their families. At this time, this applies even if you have been through the vaccine protocol. If you have a health condition which puts you at additional risk, our staff will be more than happy to try accommodating you as much as possible - just give us a call to discuss your individual needs.
PICKING UP MEDICATIONS, FOOD, or OTHER SUPPLIES: If you are only needing a refill of medications or other supplies, please call ahead and make sure we have your item in stock. This will save you an unnecessary trip. If you prefer, you can call us from the parking lot for payment and delivery to your car. Remember, our phones are very busy, so just keep calling. You can also text us at our text-only line, 706-537-7317 with your name and your pet's name. This number is NOT for emergencies or appointment scheduling, and it is NOT monitored after hours.
If you have an emergency after hours, call 706-695-4691 for emergency numbers, or click the link above. DUE TO OUR CURRENT CASELOAD, WE ARE UNFORTUNATELY NOT ABLE TO ACCEPT NEW CLIENTS AT THIS TIME.
We want to do our part to help limit the spread of the virus and protect the vulnerable members of our wonderful community, while still being here as much as possible to care for your pets during this pandemic. We will adjust if necessary due to public health mandates. Thank you for understanding and keeping all safe.
December 1, 2020
To All Our Very Valued Large Animal Clients,
In case you haven’t heard, Dr. Brannon Rickman will be leaving us at the end of December. He and his wife are moving to South Carolina for the next phase of their life. Since joining us in 2015, Dr. Rickman has made a tremendous impact here at Murray County Veterinary Services. He will be SORELY missed, both as a veterinarian and as a great person.
MCVS started our search for a new mixed animal veterinarian in the fall of 2020, but even during a non-Covid year, this type of veterinarian is an *extremely* rare creature, much less finding a good doctor who is a great human being. We are endeavoring to do our best, and we thank you for bearing with us. We are blessed to have had an even heavier all-around caseload than usual for the last several months, but this means we were already running very thin. We do not intentionally neglect anyone, and we try to give every client and patient the attention they deserve, so we thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through this time.
In order to make sure that our large animal clients (cattle, horses, goats, sheep, swine) have as many resources available to them as possible while we continue our search, we have contacted other equine and cattle veterinarians within the radius of a few counties, and they have expressed that they are very willing to serve this area and see new large animal clients. Below is a list for your reference, along with the species that they see. We recommend that you keep this list on hand and contact one of these great veterinarians FIRST for service, especially for after-hours emergencies and regular farm calls, as those are the hardest type for us to work in:
CATTLE and other large animals including horses, goats, pigs:
- Cornerstone Veterinary Svc. Rock Spring 706-375-7314 Dr. Eric Miller
- University of Tennessee, Knoxville (HAUL-IN ONLY but prices are very reasonable) 865-974-8387
- Equine Center of Cleveland 423-559-9690 Drs. Blazer and Williams
- Countryside Equine Svcs, Armuchee 706-233-9990 Drs. Wilson and Amari
Again, we appreciate the support and loyalty of SO many in this community. This is an extremely painful decision, as we wish we could be everywhere for everyone at all times, but our primary concern is that your animals get the timely care and attention that they need. We will hopefully be able to provide fuller services again within the next year, and will update you as we can.
Thank you, and please keep us in prayer for our search!! God Bless You,
Dr. Rebecca Knowles, DVM
